WHATS HAPPENING?
The New South Wales Firearms are in the process of moving to an integrated online platform. This means that all Clubs will now submit annual returns via the "Gun Safe - Clubs and Ranges Portal". It is also understood that the portal will connect member information with licence details.
Each member is responsible for ensuring that they meet the minimum requirements of their genuine reason. The requirements for the genuine reasons associated with out Club are:
Hunting: no less than 2 Club events, which may be hunting, shooting or firearms safety training
Target Shooting: participation in not less than 4 shooting activities of an (any) approved club
Collecting: at least one meeting of of our Club
Part of the annual submission requires that the Club needs to advise the Firearms Registry if you have not completed the minimum participation requirements.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
To enable you to demonstrate annual attendance compliance, there is a participation register available on our website in the members area (https://www.cessnockdhc.com.au/members-area/record-a-shoot-or-event). You are highly encouraged to use this to track attendance for your own protection.
If you want to check the status of your licence (categories or genuine reasons), and you can use the Firearms Registry website to look up those details.
WHAT DOES THE CLUB HAVE TO DO?
The annual submissions to the Firearms Registry provide member information as well as confirmation that each member has satisfied the attendance requirements of each genuine reason that they both licenced for and have nominated our Club.
